If, as the lyrics of the song "El choclo" say, tango is anger, pain, faith, and absence ("a mixture of anger, pain, faith, and absence"), AIRE brings us the sense of distance, absence, and the passage of time that, like a lightning bolt of Heraclitus, has no return. The nostalgia for everything and nothing, for everywhere and nowhere, reaches us through the notes, tones, and rhythms of the instruments in a continuous relationship of contest and anticipation, provocation and reconciliation. The spirit of Julio Cortazar's words "To be Argentine is to be sad, to be Argentine is to be distant" ("Ser argentino es estar triste, ser argentino es estar lejos") resonates and comes alive in the atmosphere, sometimes poignant, sometimes melancholic, sometimes biting, created by the five instruments. However, irony and playfulness are not lacking, as in the highly personal reinterpretation of "La Cumparsita," where the instruments have fun "demolishing" the expected performances of the famous tango. In some tracks, Argentine musician Mariano Speranza joins with his intense voice to interpret "Vuelvo al Sur," "Mochila Porteña," and "Pasional." AIRE, with its unreleased tangos composed by Giuliano Romagnesi, touches us deeply because it leverages that part of our tango temperament that, perhaps dormant, resides in each one of us.

Welcome, then, to Buenos AIREs!
